![]() ![]() The present book appears in the series Quaderni vivaldiani for the Istituto Italiano Antonio Vivaldi at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Venice, and is the first outstanding outcome ‘in a projected two‐volume study of Venetian opera in Vivaldi's time (1700‐1740)’ (p.ix). Strohm's many illuminating studies have contributed in no small measure to defining the dynamics of this particular genre and its coordinates (historical, cultural and dramaturgical).
